Greetings from Florence April 16, 2012

Hello, dear friends,

We left Rome yesterday, by train, on our way to Florence. The Italian train system is very impressive. It’s clean, prompt and friendly. But the best thing of all, was the scenery.

When traveling, you’re at the mercy of the travel agent. You never know what kind of hotel you’re going to end up with. Even compared to our hotel in Rome, the Hotel Santa Maria Novella, in Florence is first rate! Let me show you around!

The breakfast buffet was beautiful!

Notice that there are two croissants on my plate! One has to fuel up for the day!

Once again, we lucked out in the travel guide department. There’s so much to see here and Carolina was so pleasant and knowledgeable. Being here only for about 36 hours really doesn’t do the city justice. There’s so much more to see. But I’m thankful to just have had a chance to be here.

I would make a terrible tour guide, because I cannot remember names, places, or dates! But I’ll share some pictures with you to give you a flavor of the town.

I arrived back at the hotel, with a few purchases and once again, shoes that doubled as sponges, thanks to the never ending rain. (A small price to pay for a wonderful day!)

Tomorrow, we go see the David statue, before getting back on the train for Padova. Stay tuned, for more adventure!

Barbara I will never forget the thrill of seeing the sculpture of David. Michelangelo completed most of his works as a very young man, The Pieta, Moses!

    Thank you for sharing!

Great photos. I for one am so glad you are hauling your computer around so we can follow your travels. My mouth watered at the croissants and the breakfasts! The big question, did you buy a purse or pinocchio in Florence?? 🙂

Oh Barbara, I’m enjoying your photos so much. I loved Florence so much we are ready for a return trip. Seeing the sights brings it all back to me, even the wonderful breakfast buffet. Keep those photos coming. I know you are enjoying your trip.

Lovely pictures. My best friend and I went to Rome a few years ago, and your picture tour has brought back so many wonderful memories of our trip. We didn’t make it to Florence. But ….maybe next time.!!! Sounds like you’re having a great time. I definitely want to go back to Italy.
