Changes In Our Living Room March 19, 2014
Greetings, from sunny Northern California!
What a glorious time of year, here! I’m in my back yard typing this, while a very happy bird is singing his heart out!
Today, is a day off, so I’m taking it slow. I wanted to show you a small change in our living room, so here goes. (It might be a nice break, from all things “shop”!
My parents are both keeping a close eye on me from heaven, now days, while I take care of some of their earthly treasures.
This extra wide chair was one of my favorites, in their home. Back then, it was covered with a blue, cream and green striped velvet, with brass nail head trim. The seat cushion is down filled, so it’s extra comfy.
I had it covered in a nubby hemp fabric, from Hemp Traders, and the linen for the seat cushion and back rest, was from fabric.com. The combo is neutral, but the mix of textures adds some interest. I also darkened up the wood, before having it covered, just using some glaze, from the shop.
Of course, nail head trim, in shiny chrome, replaced the antiqued brass trim.
Have you ever added nail head trim to an upholstered piece? Not easy! That’s why I usually leave it to the pro’s!
Lovely!
Thanks so much!
That looks great! I’ve never attempted recovering something myself. Love the nail head trim though.
Trust me, I didn’t do this myself! It would have been a hot mess, if I had. Let’s leave it to the professionals! 🙂
LOVE it!
Thanks so much! I wish I had a before picture. Oh well!
It’s gorgeous…you are a great caretaker! Beautiful view in your backyard too! Enjoy! 😉
Hi Donnamae, I wish I could say I relax there a lot, but I am like an old shoe. I have my “spot” on the well-loved family room sofa!
Love it! Beautiful yard!
Barbara, the chair is beautiful…love the fabric and the nailhead trim…it looks like such a comfy chair to curl up in!….I know your parents are looking down with love and approval!!
This looks absolutely stunning, I never tried nail head trim myself because it’s not an easy job.
