News & Events at The Treasured Home! August 7, 2013
Greetings! Yes, it’s me!
Have you missed me?! I’ve got news to share about the shop, but first a quick look at the calendar!
Back to School, at The Treasured Home:
Furniture Painting Class Special! Bring a friend and you will both receive $20 off of the $65.00 class price! All students, taking the 3 hour classes will receive an extra 10% off of supplies, on the day of the class!! You need to register in person, or on the phone and pay for your class at the time of registration, to receive the special discount.
If you’re thinking it’s time to update your painting skills, here’s the calendar for August and September. Be sure to register on line, at the shop, or by calling the shop at 916/514-5272.
August 24th, Saturday, 11 a.m.: Paint a small piece of furniture, in any one of Miss Mustard Seed’s Milk Paint colors! There are three beautiful new colors and we now have wax pucks (for distressing) and the new White Wax! Classes run between 3 and 4 hours. All supplies, except for a quality 2″ angled paint brush ($6.95 at the shop) are included, along with lunch!
August 28th, Wednesday at Noon: Free introduction to furniture painting, featuring Milk Paint and Chalk-style paint.
September 14th, Saturday at 11:00 a.m. – Chalk it up, baby! Just like the Milk Paint class, only using our very own, LOCAL, Old Town Paints!
Brand New! Niki Gamboa, a super talented local artist, is leading an ART & Wine Night, on September 26th, Thursday, from 6 until 9 p.m.! $65.00
This picture is from one of Niki’s recent classes at a nearby winery!
This first class will be all about sunflowers, adding your own personal touches! Your canvas will be pre-sketched, in the interest of time. All supplies will be included, along with wine and appetizers! I think that this class will be a blast and fill up fast, so RSVP early!
Important Note: As I approach my one year anniversary this fall, I thank each and every one of my wonderful customers, students and friends! I am taking stock of how the shop and painting studio have developed and how I see it succeeding in the coming year ahead.
I started the shop, with a love of design, furniture painting, antique and vintage discoveries and plain old treasure hunting! It has, for better or worse, become a seven day a week pursuit.
In order to maintain my sanity and love for my work and passion, I will be open just four days a week, starting September 1st. I will be open for business, from 10:30 until 5:30, Thursdays and Fridays. On Saturdays and Sunday’s, I’ll be open from 10:30 until 4:30.
My dear friend, Patti, will still be there, when I can’t be, or to lend a valued hand, when needed.
This change will give me more time for treasure hunting and time with Mr. Wonderful and my family.
I hope you will understand and continue to stop by to see what’s new!
happy to hear you are taking some time for yourself and family-it is really important to try to lead a balanced life. you might even think about closing for a month in the winter to refresh and relax someplace warm. my best to you.
Hi Tom,
Thanks for your sweet note! I thought of you, Cottage Girls and others I’ve seen over the years, that limit their hours successfully. Thanks for the support!

Smart decision, Barb. Balance is essential, and it is important to remember that you own your business; it does not own you. Enjoy!
