Using gold leaf to add accents to decor is a classic skill that is easier than you might think! Today, Barbara is going to show you how to gold leaf using a repurposed cabinet door. Let’s take a look at the supplies you’ll need to get started.
Supplies you’ll need for this project:
Gold Leaf – The product will come in thin sheets with pieces of tissue paper in between each piece.
Bole – A rust colored paint that you can apply before the gold leaf to give it a more traditional looking finish. Barbara did not use Bole in the video below.
Size – This is the “glue” that you apply before adding the gold leaf.
Brushes – Be sure to have the right sizes on hand that will work for your particular project.
Ageing Wax – If you want to tone down the brightness of the gold leaf, you can apply a layer to Dark Wax over the top.
Learn this technique in the video tutorial below!!
Supplies Barbara used to prep the cabinet door:
Fusion Mineral Paint in the color Putty – Used as the all over color.
Iron Orchid Design Distressed Decor Stamp – Stamped on the door to give it a distressed look.
