How To Paint Kitchen Cabinets – Supplies List:

TSP by Fusion Mineral Paint – Fusion™ TSP is a water-based biodegradable degreaser used to thoroughly clean a bare or painted surface prior to applying paint. Highly efficient, it removes oil, grease, fingerprints, stains and other contaminants, which will improve the adhesion and the look of subsequent coatings.  Safe to use on all surfaces (wood, paint, gypsum, melamine, plastics, metals and glass). Fusion™ TSP is environmentally friendly and contains no phosphates.

4″ Roller & Frame – For the smoothest and most flawless finish, a microfiber roller is your best friend!

Fusion Mineral Paint – Choose your favorite Fusion Mineral Paint color from our online shop.  Barbara used the color Champlain on her example piece in the video.

Staalmeester Paint Brush – The Staalmeester is the Rolls Royce of Brushes. A unique synthetic / natural bristle blend that has a short natural china bristle, blended with a longer silky synthetic bristle. The natural bristle ensures better paint absorption and the synthetic bristle component allows for a smooth, even application having minimal to no brush strokes.

Spray Bottle – Grab one at your local Dollar Store!

Beeswax/Hemp Oil Finish – Our Beeswax Finish, unique to Fusion™, and contains only pure natural beeswax and hemp oil. It is a food safe, all natural product, providing a soft smooth satin finish.  It will maintain that gorgeous satin lustre for a very long time!  Food Safe, No Chemicals, NO VOC’s & Biodegradable.

Aging Wax –  This is an optional added finish that Barbara touched on the video tutorial.

Chip Brush – Chip brushes are super cheap and perfect for applying colored wax.

How To Paint Kitchen Cabinets – Tips & Tricks:

We recommend that you remove the cabinets doors and hardware before you begin.  Also be sure to label your cabinet doors so you can return them to their original spot in your kitchen.

Always thoroughly clean your cabinet surface before you begin to paint.  No sanding is required when working with Fusion Mineral Paint.

Cut in your edges and any recessed areas to start and then go in with the roller for your larger areas.

Seal your brush in a baggie when you aren’t using.

Be sure to dampen your brush and roller before you load it with paint.

When loading your roller with paint, be sure to off-load any excess paint.

Your first coat is all about getting coverage – not perfection.  Your second and third coats will be where the magic happens.

Do not overwork the paint.

Use a small art brush to remove any pooling of your paint from the recessed areas of your piece.
